LISTEN: The Lost Souls of Black Folk and White Folk, Part 5 (Just Jesus Evangelistic Campaign, Day 690 since Jan. 20, 2017 / Day 1,055 since Jan. 1, 2016 with Daniel Whyte III)

Matthew 22:36-39: “Master, which is the great commandment in the law? Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.”

Matthew 28:19-20: “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.”

Luke 18:1: And he [Jesus] spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint.”

1 Thessalonians 5:17: “Pray without ceasing.”

Ephesians 6:18: “Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints.”

Matthew 4:17: “From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.”

1 John 1:9: “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”

Mark 8:36: “For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?”

——-

In this series, we have talked about the importance of the greatest commandments — loving God and loving our neighbors, the importance of obeying the Great Commission, and the importance of praying without ceasing. The fourth important thing that the church must do is confess and repent of sin.

Regarding 1 John 1:9, Warren Wiersbe said, “What does it mean to ‘confess’? Well, to confess sins means much more than simply to ‘admit’ them. The word confess actually means ‘to say the same thing [about].’ To confess sin, then, means to say the same thing about it that God says about it. Confession is not praying a lovely prayer, or making pious excuses, or trying to impress God and other Christians. True confession is naming sin—calling it by name what God calls it: envy, hatred, lust, deceit, or whatever it may be. Confession simply means being honest with ourselves and with God, and if others are involved, being honest with them too. It is more than admitting sin. It means judging sin and facing it squarely. When we confess our sins, God promises to forgive us. But this promise is not a ‘magic rabbit’s foot’ that makes it easy for us to disobey God!

“Of course, cleansing us of sin has two sides to it: the judicial and the personal. The blood of Jesus Christ, shed on the cross, delivers us from the guilt of sin and gives us right standing (justification) before God. God is able to forgive because Jesus’ death has satisfied His holy law. But God is also interested in cleansing a sinner inwardly. David prayed, ‘Create in me a clean heart, O God.’ When our confession is sincere, God does a cleansing work in our hearts by His Spirit and through His Word. The great mistake King David made was in trying to cover his sins instead of confessing them. For perhaps a whole year he lived in deceit and defeat. No wonder he wrote that a man should pray ‘in a time of finding out.’ When should we confess our sin? Immediately when we discover it! ‘He that covereth his sins shall not prosper; but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy.’ By walking in the light, we are able to see the ‘dirt’ in our lives and deal with it immediately.”

Before I became a believer in Christ, I was determined to make my life’s work that of fighting the injustices against black people. But then, I met Jesus Christ on December 19, 1979 in an Air Force dorm room around 8:30 that night, and He dramatically changed my life and my perspective. He gave me a burden for “my brethren according to the flesh,” that is, black people. You see, I was raised in the black Baptist church and in the black Pentecostal Holiness church, because my dad was ordained as a Baptist preacher and my mother was ordained as a Pentecostal Holiness preacher. Yet I was lost and on my way to hell and had not heard the Gospel for nineteen years of my life and I knew that others in the black community were misled as well, so God put in my heart to reach “my brethren according to the flesh” with a clear presentation of the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ. In fact, it was a white, independent, Baptist church plant in Mississippi of all places where I heard a clear presentation of the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ and my eternal soul was saved from a burning hell to a Heaven that I do not deserve because of the death, burial, and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ. Later, God began to show me a vision that all people needed the Gospel. That was when He led me to preach the Gospel in nearly every state in the United States including Alaska and Hawaii and in over twenty-five foreign countries in person. Now, by the grace of God and due to His gifts of technology, I preach live to thousands of people a week in every country of the world. Glory be to God!

My point in sharing that history with you is to bring you to the mission statement for the Just Jesus Evangelistic Campaign which I believe is biblical and apropo for our times for every Christian because many Christians have been beguiled by Satan to get entangled in all kinds of good causes, whether it be the color line, politics, or social causes, and even though these things are important, we need to get back to being the church and doing what the church was called by Jesus to do and if we had done that over the past one hundred years, I believe with all my heart America would look much different than it does today. Here is the original statement that was written for the Just Jesus Evangelistic Campaign right before the first of over 1,000 sermons was preached on January 1, 2016:

‘The daily Just Jesus Evangelistic Campaign sermon series is aimed at sharing the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ with unbelievers and reminding Christians, in this important election year, to keep the main thing the main thing — and that is reaching unbelievers with the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ and praying for their salvation, for the problem in America is not only disobedient presidents, politicians, and people, but disobedient pastors, preachers, and parishioners who have refused to obey the Lord’s Great Commission which is to, “Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature” and who have refused to obey God’s repeated commands to “pray without ceasing” for unbelievers, believers, and political leaders. Yes, you should pray for the right candidate to win; yes, you should vote for the candidate that the Lord gives you peace about voting for. But, don’t get caught up in it like the world does. Nothing much is going to change until people get saved and get their hearts right with the Lord.

‘This campaign is inspired by the following three verses: 1 Corinthians 2:2 which says, “For I determined not to know anything among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified”; Acts 5:42 which says, “And daily in the temple, and in every house, they ceased not to teach and preach Jesus Christ”; And 2 Timothy 2:4 which says, “No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier.”

‘This series is not for Christians necessarily. However, I do hope you are one of those saints who still loves to hear the “Old, old story of Jesus and His love” — As another hymn says, “For those who know it best Seem hungering and thirsting to hear it like the rest.” This series is primarily for unbelievers, so they can hear and understand the Gospel and be saved from sin and the punishment of sin which is hell.’

And once the first 367 sermons were preached and the election was over, we added this to the mission statement and I kept on preaching:

‘If you think a new president being in office is the only thing needed to save America and “make America great again,” you are woefully deceived. The church must follow through and keep the main thing the main thing, and that is, reaching unbelievers with the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ and praying for their salvation, for the problem in America is not only disobedient presidents, politicians, and people, but disobedient pastors, preachers, and parishioners who have refused to obey the Lord’s Great Commission to, “Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature,” and who have refused to obey God’s repeated command to “pray without ceasing” for unbelievers, believers, and political leaders. Pray for the president, but don’t get caught up in the political happenings like the world does. Nothing much is going to change until people get saved and get their hearts right with the Lord.’

Using how God—the God who changes not—dealt with His chosen people in the past and based upon First Corinthians 10:1-12, this series will show God’s chosen people of today how to find their souls and their way again. Understanding that “judgment must begin at the house of God,” it is then and only then that God’s people, black and white together, can lead America and the world past the problem of the color line, along with other problems, closer to where God wants us all to be while living on this earth “looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ.”

——-

If you are a Christian listening today, here are three things you need to do:

1. Confess and repent of your own sins. You already know what they are.

2. Pray for your brothers and sisters in Christ to repent of their sins and get back to their first love

3. Pray for souls to be saved, and do your part by witnessing to the lost.

——-

Now, if you are with us today and you do not know Jesus Christ as your Savior, allow me to show you how you can place your faith and trust in Him for Salvation from sin and Hell.

First, accept the fact that you are a sinner, and that you have broken God’s law. The Bible says in Romans 3:23: “For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.”

Second, accept the fact that there is a penalty for sin. The Bible states in Romans 6:23: “For the wages of sin is death…”

Third, accept the fact that you are on the road to hell. Jesus Christ said in Matthew 10:28: “And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.” Also, the Bible states in Revelation 21:8: “But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.”

Now that is bad news, but here’s the good news. Jesus Christ said in John 3:16: “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” Just believe in your heart that Jesus Christ died for your sins, was buried, and rose from the dead by the power of God for you so that you can live eternally with Him. Pray and ask Him to come into your heart today, and He will.

Romans 10:9 & 13 says, “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved… For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

If you believe that Jesus Christ died on the Cross for your sins, was buried, and rose from the dead, and you want to trust Him for your Salvation today, please pray with me this simple prayer: Holy Father God, I realize that I am a sinner and that I have done some bad things in my life. I am sorry for my sins, and today I choose to turn from my sins. For Jesus Christ sake, please forgive me of my sins. I believe with all of my heart that Jesus Christ died for me, was buried, and rose again. I trust Jesus Christ as my Savior and I choose to follow Him as Lord from this day forward. Lord Jesus, please come into my heart and save my soul and change my life today. Amen.

If you believed in your heart that Jesus Christ died on the Cross, was buried, and rose again, allow me to say, congratulations on doing the most important thing in life and that is accepting Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour!
